VIDEO AND AUDIO GUIDELINES FOR VIRTUAL CONFERENCE SPEAKERS,
PRESENTERS, AND PANELISTS

Audio

  • The most important part of any call is the quality of audio.
  • Try to avoid using the small inbuilt microphone on laptops.
  • It is best to use headsets such as a bud type with attached microphone. Ideally, use a headset with boom and noise cancelling microphone.

Sharing your presentation

  • You are encouraged to share your own slides/screen. Kindly follow the step-by-step instructions here.

Camera

  • The direction and angle of your web camera is as important as your audio.
  • The camera in most laptops is placed in the lid at the top of the screen. This should be raised to a level that is at least in line with your eyes.
  • Propping your laptop on a collection of books or using a laptop stand will achieve the correct height.

Lighting

  • Avoid sitting with strong backlighting, such as a window behind you.
  • If possible, have a window in front of you, of no more than 45 degrees to your side to make use of available daylight.
  • Key lighting should be in front of you, ideally from a window.
  • Try to add additional desk lights or ring lights. Low-level, side-fill lighting can enhance your appearance and remove shadows.
  • You may wish to blur your background instead of using a virtual background.

Posture and Framing

  • Try to sit upright across a table and in front of your laptop/webcam.
  • Ensure that you are well framed within the camera window with a small amount of clearance above your head.
  • Try to sit directly opposite your camera so that you will appear to be talking to your audience.

Please refer to ADB’s web meeting guidelines for more details.

PLATFORM AND TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

The virtual conference will use Zoom as its platform. Each conference cast—host, moderators, presenters, and panelists—should connect through the dedicated Zoom link. A stable internet connection is a must, as well as good audio and video for a clear connection.

You will receive your unique joining link through an email from Marilyn Parra / Zoom with the subject “
Panelist for IPAF International Conference”. It contains your unique link and webinar password, IPAF2022.

An email will be sent to you 1 hour before the start of the conference time as a reminder, on 27 October 2022.

For the rest of the participants, we will use only one (1) Zoom event link for the conference proper, as follows:
