 TRAINING SESSION

Green Roads Workshop
21 May 2026, Thursday
9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Auditorium Hall 2

Efficient, resilient, and sustainable road networks are essential for economic and social development across Asia and the Pacific. Yet countries face growing challenges from intensifying climate and disaster risks, aging road assets, rapid motorization, and rising service‑level expectations.

This session will leverage good practices from the ADB Green Roads Toolkit and similar platforms to demonstrate how road investments can be planned, designed, delivered, and operated in cleaner, more resilient, and more resource‑efficient ways, by identifying, prioritizing, and applying green, resilient, inclusive, and resource‑efficient approaches across the road infrastructure lifecycle. The session combines short expert presentations, case‑based group exercises, and facilitated discussion to help participants translate toolkit guidance into concrete, context‑specific actions and implementation pathways.

By the end of the session, participants will:

  1. Learn to apply the ADB Green Roads Toolkit to identify strategies for building greener road networks.
  2. Understand how to integrate multi-hazard risk considerations into road planning.
  3. Evaluate strategies for transitioning road user revenue systems as vehicle electrification accelerates.
