 TRAINING SESSION

Using Transport Data for Better Investment Decisions
22 May 2026, Friday
11:00 a.m. — 12:30 p.m.
Auditorium Hall 2

Reliable and accessible data is increasingly essential for improving transport planning, infrastructure design, asset performance and policy decision-making. Across Asia and the Pacific, governments and development partners are investing in new data systems, analytical tools, and digital platforms that can support evidence-based transport policies and investments.

This training session will showcase how transport data is being used in practice to support better decisions across the transport sector. Speakers will present practical examples of data platforms, analytical tools, and digital innovations that are helping governments and partners monitor transport systems, identify safety risks, prioritize investments, and improve infrastructure performance. The session will highlight initiatives including the Asian Transport Observatory (ATO), the Transport Data and Connectivity Initiative (TDCI), the World Bank’s ieCONNECT platform, and emerging digital and analytical tools such as iRAP safety assessments, ADB Green Roads Toolkit, RIDE programme and data science and AI applications in transport analytics.

Through presentations and interactive discussion, the session will explore how improved data collection, integration, and analysis can strengthen decision-making, support sustainable and safe mobility, and enhance collaboration across institutions and sectors.

By the end of the session, participants will:
  1. Understand how different transport data platforms and tools support better infrastructure and policy decisions.
  2. Discover practical examples of how data analytics and digital platforms are improving transport systems.
  3. Recognize key challenges and opportunities in strengthening transport data ecosystems in developing countries.
