Turning ambitious transport priorities into measurable action across Asia and the Pacific demands bold leadership and new partnerships.
The Opening Plenary will formally launch the Asia and the Pacific Transport Forum 2026 by setting the strategic tone for the week under the theme, “From Priorities to Actions.”
The session will frame the central challenges and opportunities shaping the future of transport in Asia and the Pacific. The session will explore the role of transport as a critical enabler of sustainable development, economic growth, and regional integration, while underscoring the importance of innovation, systems thinking, and implementation readiness in the early years of the UN Decade of Sustainable Transport.
By the end of the session, participants will:
Understand the transformative role of transport as an enabler of economic integration, sustainable development, climate action, and social inclusion in Asia and the Pacific.
Identify global and regional trends that will shape transport systems in the decade ahead.
Recognize the ambition and purpose of translating policy priorities into tangible actions, investments, and partnerships throughout the Transport Forum and beyond.
