 PARALLEL SESSION

From Strategy to Delivery: Operationalizing Sustainable and Resilient Maritime Systems
20 May 2026, Wednesday
11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Auditorium Halls 1-2

Sustainable maritime infrastructure remains critical to Asia's future, yet funding gaps continue to widen.

This session will examine how sustainable and resilient maritime priorities are being translated into implementable projects and financing solutions in developing member countries. It will present ADB's Sustainable and Resilient Maritime Initiative (SRMI) and the Sustainable and Resilient Maritime Fund as platforms for moving from strategy to delivery, alongside ADB's Green Port Toolkit.

The session will highlight practical experience in developing sovereign maritime project pipelines, structuring blended finance mechanisms, and addressing implementation challenges, with a focus on actionable lessons aligned with the Forum theme. Speakers will address the development of the SRMI project pipeline, fund positioning and financing modalities, governance considerations, country-level implementation experience, maritime decarbonization through green shipping corridors, and green port operations.

By the end of the session, participants will:

  1. Understand how integrated maritime initiatives can link policy reform, project preparation, and financing.
  2. Learn practical approaches to prioritizing and structuring sovereign maritime investments.
  3. Gain insights into key design features and operational considerations for a maritime blended finance facility.
  4. Draw lessons from ADB-supported maritime project implementation.
  5. Explore how ADB’s Green Port Toolkit can be applied in developing member countries.
