Delivering on the UN Decade of Sustainable Transport
19 May 2026, Tuesday
2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Auditorium Halls 1-4

Following the launch of the UN Decade of Sustainable Transport and its Implementation Plan in December 2025, countries now have a cleared framework to guide concrete action toward safer, low-carbon, and accessible mobility systems. This session aims to help governments and development partners understand how the Implementation Plan can be used as a practical orientation, while highlighting the important role of regional cooperation in supporting knowledge exchange and shared learning.

The discussion will address key topics such as aligning national policies with the Decade's priorities, strengthening institutional and technical capacities, and identifying opportunities where regional perspectives and partnerships can accelerate progress.

By the end of the session, participants will:

  1. Understand the UN Decade of Sustainable Transport and translate the Implementation Plan into action.
  2. Identify opportunities for strengthening regional collaboration and determine capacity building needs to accelerate the goals of the Decade.
  3. Evaluate available regional and UN support mechanisms and discover concrete opportunities for peer learning and collaboration.
