This session will explore how cities in developing member countries can deliver high quality, inclusive urban transport systems, based on practical experience and stories of impact. Through case studies, the session will highlight common urban mobility challenges and how they are addressed in different contexts.
The session will examine the framework for what defines high quality urban transport, focusing on the key parameters needed to achieve a reliable, affordable, and seamless first-to-last-mile transport system—including financial sustainability, technical design, digital services, policy and regulatory frameworks, and social considerations such as paratransit. It will also address key dimensions of urban mobility through practice based topics, including e mobility and electrification, multimodal integration, linkages between urban form and transport planning, challenges and future expectations of urban transport in Pacific Island cities, and social impacts of bus transition reforms.
