Véronique Salze-Lozac’h  
Chief Evaluator, EBRD

Ms Salze-Lozac’h is responsible for delivering high quality independent evaluations that enhance the EBRD’s accountability and provide evidence-based lessons for better results. She aims to foster a culture of evaluation in the Bank and ensure that evaluation is useful to Board members and Operations in their efforts to build a resilient and sustainable future.

Ms. Salze-Lozac'h is an economist, with a strong evaluation background and over 30 years of experience working for both the public and the private sector on inclusive growth, private sector development, and policy reforms in Europe, Africa and Asia. 

Prior to joining EBRD, she was Deputy Director General in the Independent Evaluation Department (IED), Asian Development Bank (ADB). In this role, she supported IED’s Director General in providing independent evaluations of ADB’s operations for accountability and learning purposes. She was particularly responsible for the Evaluation Knowledge Management activities, ensuring that evaluation knowledge is accessible, valued and utilized.

Previous to that, Ms. Salze-Lozac'h was Chief Economist at The Asia Foundation, where she supported Asian public and private initiatives to enhance economic governance for a more inclusive and sustainable development across 18 countries. She implemented projects, conducted public-private policy dialogues and led research and evaluation work on key development challenges in Asia, working with governments, bilateral and multilateral organizations, as well as the private sector.

Before joining the Foundation, Ms. Salze-Lozac’h worked on a variety of economic projects for both the public and private sectors in Africa, Europe and Asia. As the founder and managing director of VSL Consulting, she led private investment projects in Africa and managed multi-country public-private partnerships for research and development (R&D) industrial programmes. Her other areas of expertise include micro-finance, value-chain analysis and trade.

She also taught project management and other topics related to economic development at CEFEB, the training center of the Agence Française de Développement.
