Tungaa Ulambayar  
Rangeland Expert, Mongolia

Dr. Tungaa Ulambayar is Country Director of Mongolia Representative Office, Zoological Society of London. She earned her Ph.D. in Rangeland Ecosystem Science at Colorado State University. Tungaa's doctoral research examined the effectiveness of community-based rangeland conservation in Mongolia in achieving social outcomes essential for herders' adaptation to climate change and building their resilience to climatic uncertainties. Her dissertation won the "Outstanding Dissertation Award" of Warner College of Natural Resources, CSU. Tungalag obtained her MA degree in International Development at the International University of Japan, and her Bachelor in Philology at Moscow State University, Russia.

Tungaa worked in management positions of various international organizations throughout her career, including the United Nations Development Programme and EU Tacis Programme. She was also the Adviser to the Minister of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia. Tungaa is one of Mongolia's pioneering Participatory Rural Appraisal facilitators, the critical approach for community-based natural resource management.
