Sonia is Principal Evaluation Specialist with the Independent Evaluation Department at the Asian Development Bank and leads Evaluation Capacity Development. She brings 28 years of international development experience in infrastructure operations, knowledge solutions, environment safeguards, and project management across multiple sectors at ADB, World Bank, and the private sector. She led innovative business lines and published knowledge products in key areas on livable cities, environment policy reform, climate adaptation, urban resilience and nature based solutions and coastal and watershed protection. She has held multiple positions from team leader to technical team member of investments and technical assistance projects across various departments. She holds a Masters in environment engineering from College Park, Maryland, USA, a Bachelor’s in Architecture from Chandigarh, India, Executive Education certificate in the “Leading Economic Growth” Program, from Harvard University, and an Executive Diploma in Urban Management Tools for Climate Change from Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies, Rotterdam, Netherlands.
