Ahmed Faruk Diken

Ahmed Faruk Diken is currently working as a Senior Technical Cooperation Coordinator for MENA & Europe in the Regional Cooperation and Integration (RCI) Department of the IsDB. He is involved in the formulation and implementation of technical cooperation and Reverse Linkage interventions primarily in the MENA and Europe region, developing knowledge products and frameworks that contribute to the body of knowledge of South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTrC) and coordinating collaboration with key development partners as well as technical cooperation agencies in the MENA & Europe region.

In recent years, Ahmed supported institutional aspects of technical cooperation and SSTrC by leading the development of the Bank’s Reverse Linkage Policy and the framework for enhancing National Ecosystems for SSTrC, jointly developed with the UNOSSC and South Centre. He also plays a key role in ensuring the Bank’s positioning in SSTrC through relevant international platforms (such as the 2nd High-Level UN Conference on South-South Cooperation (BAPA+40), held in March 2019, and various sessions of the High-Level Forum of Directors General for Development Cooperation).

Prior to his current position at the RCI Department, Ahmed worked as a Senior Specialist in Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD). Ahmed joined the Islamic Development Bank as a Young Professional in 2011. During his training as a young professional, Ahmed Faruk completed his rotations in operations evaluations, private sector advisory operations and Public-Private Partnerships. Before joining the Bank, Ahmed worked as an industrial and process engineer in the private sector in the USA. He holds a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees on Industrial Engineering from the University of Iowa, USA.
