Women and girls are impacted disproportionately by climate change and disasters due to preexisting gender inequalities and limited opportunities to participate in decision making processes. However, evidence shows that when provided with opportunities to engage in decisions related to infrastructure development, implementation and maintenance, women exhibit leadership in strengthening resilience. This interactive session will discuss the importance and opportunities for meaningfully engaging women and girls in resilient infrastructure-related initiatives, thereby advancing gender equality.
