The inaugural session of the Virtual Dialogues on Resilient Infrastructure introduced the overall series and shared global and regional perspectives on infrastructure resilience. ADB staff, regional experts and Developing Member Country participants shared concrete examples of approaches and solutions to enhance the climate and disaster resilience of critical infrastructure, with opportunities for audience engagement, questions and panel discussion.

As countries in Asia and the Pacific face an increasingly uncertain future, enhancing the resilience of infrastructure to disasters and climate change requires innovative and effective measures to evaluate multi-hazard risk. This session shared four brief case studies (Indonesia, Myanmar, Tonga, Viet Nam) from international and regional experts highlighting risk assessment approaches and solutions, followed by participant break-out groups which explored the cases in further detail.

The final event in season one of the Virtual Dialogues on Resilient Infrastructure showcased solutions for enhancing climate and disaster resilience in the following areas: infrastructure design standards, nature-based solutions, and early warning systems. Global and regional experts shared brief ‘burst’ talks on each topic, with opportunities for audience questions and discussion throughout.
