Our Commitment
We commit to creating a safe space for young people to meaningfully participate in the Asia Pacific Youth Symposium

The Code of Conduct
We recognize that young people are a particularly vulnerable group, and we have a responsibility to make sure that they are safe and participate meaningfully in the Asia Pacific Youth Symposium. Hence, we require every participant in the event to adhere to the following code of conduct:

  • Treat young people with dignity and respect at all times;
  • Be sensitive to young people’s age, gender, ethnicity, background, sexuality, religion, and other important personal characteristics;
  • Treat and engage with all young people as equal partners, despite their personal characteristics;
  • Never participate in any behavior towards young people that may be illegal, unsafe and abusive;
  • Familiarize themselves with the youth safeguarding documents and procedures for the event;
  • Report any suspicions or allegations immediately;

Reporting a youth safeguarding concern
If you think that you or a young person participating in the event is in danger in any way, or feel uneasy about something or someone, it’s important that you know there are people you can go to. Please feel free to share your concern using one or more of the following channels:

  • Facebook: you can share your concern in a message to our Facebook page or to any of the organizing team members. Your message will be forwarded to the Youth Safeguarding Committee.
  • Zoom chat box (online sessions): you can send a private message to our Youth Safeguarding moderator that will be present in every online session of the event
  • E-mail: you can send your concern to the Team Leader of the Youth Safeguarding Committee at iris.caluag@plan-international.org

 Important to know:
Please be aware that any concern you share will have to be shared with the Youth Safeguarding Committee members so we can make sure it is properly addressed. So although what you tell us will be kept confidential, the Youth Safeguarding Committee will have to know. Please be assured we will:

  • Listen to you and take your worries seriously
  • Help work out the best way to keep you safe
  • Keep you informed of everything we are doing and listen to your views.
