Green government procurement policies, which account for a substantial share of national and world GDP and are directly or indirectly responsible for 15% of GHG emissions, can be a powerful tool in trade policy discussions to promote the purchase of climate-friendly, low-carbon goods and services, create markets for new green products, and help achieve a greener future by incorporating environmental and social sustainability criteria into procurement processes.
