Adrian Sammons
Managing Director, AMSTEC Pty Limited
Adrian has held senior positions in the private and public sectors sustaining 30 years’ experience in shipping, ports, and transport industries. In 2005 Adrian established a transport economics consultancy; AMSTEC Pty Ltd, which has completed over 50 transport projects worldwide. Adrian holds commercial seafaring qualifications, holds an (MBA) 1st Class distinction; majoring in Shipping and logistics and is a PhD candidate researching ports privatisation. Adrian has delivered Maritime projects in ports and shipping with significant outcomes including major port rebuilds, green port initiatives and establishment of new commercial shipping ventures. Many of these developments have occurred in in the Asia-Pacific region where Adrian has extensive experience and knowledge of the maritime activities and challenges facing the industry, communities, and governments. In 2007 and 2012 Adrian was recognized with best paper prizes by the International Assn. of Maritime Economists, the Korea Association of Maritime Industry and the Australian naval Institute.

Russell Stevens
Principal Marine Scientist, O2 Marine
Russell is an experienced Marine Scientist and Environmental Specialist with more than 15 years’ experience working in environmental management, particularly in the Ports industry, both in Australia and Southeast Asia. Russell has significant experience in development and implementation of environmental policies, management plans and sustainability strategies, aligning environmental management systems to international (ISO) standards, greenhouse and carbon reporting and coordinating environmental compliance programs for contaminated sites, air quality, waste management, noise, light pollution and marine environmental quality. Russell also has significant experience conducting audits and inspections of Port Policy, management systems, operational practices, and infrastructure to ensure effective and efficient operations and environmental safeguards to minimize or prevent spills, discharges and emissions to the natural environment.
Nadine Bresemann
Head of Maritime Transport Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA)
Nadine Bresemann is a Transport Expert with more than 20 years of experience working alongside the executive teams of logistics providers, banks and environmental organizations. Nadine uses her energy to work towards reducing the carbon footprint of transport and believes that sustainable mobility will be possible in the long term. She holds a Master of Business from the Freie University in Berlin and is skilled in strategic planning and business development.
In Asia, Nadine specializes in coastal and marine protection. She is currently responsible for marine transport for the regional, intergovernmental organization Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA). Together with partner countries, networks and the support of the International Climate Initiative in Germany, she develops ideas and blue solutions to reduce emissions from ships, ports and hinterland transport in Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. Nadine is based in Manila.
Melissa Walsh, PhD
Program Manager, Ocean Finance Initiative - ADB
Dr. Melissa Walsh is the Program Manager - Ocean Finance Initiative for the Asian Development Bank and supports ADB’s commitment to raise $5billion for ocean health by 2024. Dr. Walsh is a leading global expert in ocean finance and the blue economy and was recently the co-lead of the Ocean Finance paper for the High-Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy. Melissa has over 20 years’ experience in coral reef science, management, and conservation finance in Hawaii, the Pacific Islands, and Australia. Previous, to ADB, Dr. Walsh designed and managed Pacific Ocean Finance Program, a $2.6 million USD program to improve the amount and efficacy of finance for Pacific Ocean governance. Dr. Walsh has worked across all sectors in marine conservation - government, private, academia, and NGO. In 2011, Melissa was awarded the “Global Leader Award” by Conservation International for developing the $10 million USD Hawaii Fish Trust. Melissa holds a BS in Chemistry & Marine Science (University of Miami), a MS in Oceanography (University of Hawaii), and a PhD in Marine Conservation Finance (James Cook University).
Anthony Bayley
Director, Napier Consultants
Anthony Bayley is an independent transport and logistics consultant with more than 40 years of experience in the international shipping, aviation and trade facilitation sectors. After nearly 20 years working in the liner shipping and port industry, he established his own consulting company focusing mainly on projects in developing countries. He has undertaken a wide range of assignments across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Pacific on behalf of the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, the UN and the European Commission, as well as for government authorities and the private sector. Specific projects in the maritime sector have included port master planning, terminal design and layouts, feasibility studies, analysis of operational improvements, port facilitation and enhancing regional connectivity. He has a number of attributed publications on trade and port facilitation.

He holds a PhD in Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island, a master’s in Meteorology and Physical Oceanography from the University of Miami, a bachelor’s in Physics from Vanderbilt University, and a conjoint appointment as Senior Lecturer at the University of Newcastle, Australia.
