Technology Profile
Vienna Water Monitoring Solutions VWMS is an Austrian company offering the ColiMinderĀ®, a fully automated measurement technology measuring microbiological contamination in 15 minutes.

Microbiological contamination, an important water quality parameter, is still evaluated by a manual 1 to 3-day laboratory procedure, which is not suitable for automation, online monitoring, and process control, and does not serve peopleā€™s health as results are not available to control processes or take actions against bacterial contamination.

The ColiMinder measures microbiological contamination, which is deployed within the process, providing microbiological contamination as online parameter for process automation, monitoring and early warning. Since 2014, it has proven reliability, robustness, and stability in the following applications around the globe:
  • drinking water
  • food & beverage production
  • surface & bathing water
  • industrial & process water
  • wastewater

The technology is based on direct measurement of specific metabolic (enzymatic) activity of the following target organisms:
  • E.coli (faecal indicator bacteria)
  • Enterococci (faecal indicator bacteria)
  • Total Microbiological Activity (a bulk parameter covering all living organisms)
The ColiMinder can significantly help increase water safety and reduce health risks throughout the entire water cycle, especially in drinking water and food & beverage production and supply. Real-time measurement and monitoring of microbiological quality become true!

Our customer base consists of drinking water utilities (e.g., WSD/Hong Kong, Mekorot/Israel, Unitywater/Australia), Beverage bottling companies (e.g., Romaqua/Romania), wastewater treatment utilities (e.g., DSD/Hong Kong, MSD/Cincinnati), surface water monitoring Institutions (e.g., NIWA/New Zealand, Eau de Paris/France), scientific institutions, and many more.

VWMS is in contact with several consultant companies, and works with distribution and service partners, yet we would like to strengthen incorporation of the technology into water infrastructure projects.
