In terms of smart water technology, one of the key highlights is Veolia’s technological expertise to build compact and efficient water treatment plants in half the area size of a conventional plant. Veolia's technologies are ideal for small to large plants and can treat any kind of water characteristics and pollutant loads with compact footprints. For example, Veolia has successfully constructed a 240 million liters per day (MLD) water treatment plant in Kanhan, Nagpur, in the space originally designated for a 120 MLD plant.

Our sewage treatment technologies help municipalities integrate a circular economy. Veolia has built the first sustainable sewage treatment plant (STP) in Delhi, which is the Nilothi STP. The plant has a capacity to treat 91 MLD of wastewater and participates in the protection of the environment by preventing the discharge of untreated wastewater. The plant uses green processes, which include the production of biogas and compost. Compost obtained from the sludges can be used as fertilizers by the local farmers, while the generated biogas supports around 50% of the electricity requirement of the plant.
