Technology Profile

Most utilities in Asia have realized the need for adequate quantity and quality of water for municipal and industry use. In addition to spending on water infrastructure, efforts are taken to adopt digital transformation within utilities’ operations.

Local utilities can adopt a digitalization approach through the Unified Operation Center (UOC), an integrated operational system with Industry 4.0 based paradigm and digital twin for simulation, prediction, and forecasting.

The UOC enables efficiency to boost collaboration and performance while achieving corporate management goals. This system connects OT (operational technology) and IT (information technology), integrating data from different sources and connecting critical equipment and infrastructure, improving efficiency and sustainability. Implemented as Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure solution, the solution saves capital and operational expenditure through improved asset management, increasing effectiveness of business decision-making, operations, and other related processes.

The solution is scalable and future-proof that can integrate seamlessly into existing and future systems, giving return on investment and financial sustainability.

With this technology, utilities may be able to address pain points by:
  • optimizing overall operation to avoid service breeches related to disruptions, water supply demand vs production and quality, reduce nonrevenue water and energy consumption;
  • detecting leaks, leak likelihood, refurbishment planning;
  • management of critical assets and predictions on failures of equipment;
  • quick command over planned and emergency situations;
  • simulation and prediction for decision support; and
  • integrate and unify sites, people, processes, assets, and technology for efficient management of water, resources, and infrastructure.
