One key innovation that revolutionized Maynilad's customer data management and billing is the Utility Management System (UMS). It was designed using Maynilad's Enterprise Resource Planning system as its building block.

The Maynilad UMS is especially designed for small and medium enterprises and water utilities to address common pain points in customer data management, meter reading and billing, customer collections, and subsidiary ledger. It is a smart system that allows for automatic detection of billing discrepancies, and almost zero human intervention when calculating for customer consumption fees. As a web-based application, it can be accessed simultaneously by various users anytime, anywhere.

Following the completion of the first development phase of the system, Maynilad is currently on the second development phase with enhancements to include: service orders, customer relationship management, device management, customer communication portal, analytics, and septage and sewerage management.
