Imagine H2O Asia is a Singapore-based regional accelerator for emerging water technologies. The virtual booth showcases three deployment-ready Imagine H2O Asia-vetted smart water solution providers addressing distinct challenges in rural water provision and service delivery. The solution providers showcased all have active deployments in South or Southeast Asia.

Since 2009, Imagine H2O has supported more than 150 water startups. By showcasing Imagine H2O Asia and select portfolio companies in a single booth, Imagine H2O Asia aims to: 1) connect end-users with Imagine H2O’s wider portfolio and innovation activities; and 2) spotlight promising rural water solutions ready for adoption and scaling.

Solution providers include the following:

SmartTerra (Non-Revenue Water) provides an artificial intelligence-powered analytics platform that helps utilities reduce losses and increase revenue without additional capital expenditure investment. The flagship product, MeterCity, is adapted to manage siloed, unreliable data, and helps utilities identify apparent losses by analyzing metering inaccuracies and billing anomalies. 

 In 2020, a pilot with SUEZ in Bengaluru demonstrated a 3% revenue improvement. Ongoing projects include a pilot with a rural water supply aggregator in Cambodia.

Drinkwell (Drinking Water Access) partners with utilities to provide a filtration technology using a nanotechnology-based resin that removes arsenic and fluoride along with water ATMs that serve metered pay-as-you-go water. About 180 systems have been deployed serving 309,000 people in India and Bangladesh. Existing partnerships include Water Supply and Sewerage Authority and Chittagong Water Supply and Sewerage Authority, and utilities in West Bengal and Bihar, with plans to explore opportunities with rural water operators to boost service delivery.

AquAffirm (Water Quality Testing) provides a rapid, low-cost enzyme strip-testing technology and digital monitoring platform for real-time detection and rural mapping of arsenic and fluoride contamination. AquAffirm’s sensor is the first web-enabled field test for arsenic, and the easy-to-use mapping platform enables efficient field management, site selection, and rural water supply planning. Initial testing was conducted in Bangladesh.
