Submission Procedure

Authors should submit their extended abstract in English via the Registration page by 6 March 2023. The deadline is not extendable. The abstract should be about 750 words,discussing research background, motivation, methodology, and expected policy implications. Submissions should also contain the title, name of author(s), and affiliation(s). Successful applicants will be notified by 15 March 2023.

Authors of selected abstracts should submit their draft paper (3,000 words) or detailed presentation slides using the above submission link by 18 April 2023 for the technical workshop later in the same month. The full paper should be submitted by 15 August 2023. The full paper should have 6,000-8,000 words including references and adhere to the following structure: 

  • Paper title
  • Author information (including co-authors): name, affiliation, address, and email
  • Abstract (150-250 words)
  • Introduction
  • Main text (split into various sections with headings and subheadings)
  • Conclusion and policy recommendations
  • References

Authors of selected papers will be invited to the technical workshop on 25–26 April 2023 and to the final conference on 19–20 September 2023, both at the USP, Suva, Fiji. Technical workshop will bring in experts to discuss the draft papers and suggest revisions. Draft full papers will be discussed in the final conference.

An honorarium of US$1000 will be provided to the top 10 accepted papers. ADB will also provide travel and accommodation support to one author per paper, of who must be a citizen of an ADB member economy. Selected papers will also be considered for publication as policy briefs or inclusion in a monograph, subject to their quality and policy relevance. Final paper submission is thus expected by 3 October 2023.
