About Moerk Water Solutions

Moerk Water Solutions is an Australian company with German roots.

Moerk Water delivers potable and agricultural water to remote communities and areas through decentralised, robust and sustainable water treatment technology powered by renewable energy.

We believe that humans need good water to thrive and have noticed that the need is greatest in rural and remote communities. These communities are considered difficult to reach, however with modern technology (designed specifically for reliable operation in remote locations) and good vocational training, it is simply not true that they are unreachable.

Improved drinking water is a critical step towards resilient communities and a major contributor to health, poverty, education, human capital building, and other development targets. Having access to treated drinking water during droughts and immediately after cyclones is also a major step towards disaster resilience.

We have a team of professionals with expertise in water treatment, desalination and solar energy and have successfully implemented projects in 11 countries.

Our Solutions

We can treat seawater, brackish water and contaminated freshwater to quality drinking water that meets World Health Organisation Health Guidelines as well as relevant local standards. We will showcase our technologies and the importance of:

  • Low operating costs
  • Renewable energy
  • Simple operator controls
  • Automated membrane flushing and other maintenance
  • Energy recovery devices to reduce power consumption
  • Chemical-free operation
  • Spares that are widely available
  • Designing for easy installation and transport
  • On-going partnership and support

Good technology is only half the story - we use a successful project from Vanuatu to highlight the importance of a holistic approach that involves the host community and other local stakeholders from the very beginning. Done well, this builds agreement and fosters a sense of community ownership. Good vocational training that builds local capacity to ensure that each community can run its own water treatment plant is also critical to success.
