SOLPA: A solar energy device that purifies drinking water, produces electricity, and connects WIFI at the same time For 20 years, MIJ COO developed solar panels for communities living in areas with fickle weather. The company considered the needs of families who needed to travel far to carry drinking water and those who faced electricity shortage. In response, MIJ innovated starting with the ceramic potable filters that were useful for household purposes. But the company wanted their technology to be beneficial for school children in remote parts of Nepal, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. This thought motivated MIJ to develop SOLPA. In 2018, Mr. Lee COO visited Nepal and he built a water storage tank for students. But he was faced with challenges in energy storage and the lack of clean water. Mr. Lee COO decided to connect solar panels to generate electricity. He used ceramic filters to purify the water and added extra batteries so students can get electricity. Our Solution This event led the discovery of the SOLPA – an efficient, eco-friendly, safe, and convenient renewable generator. SOLPA is a multifunctional solar energy device that purifies drinking water, produces electricity, and connects people to WiFi. It also has AC output, USB, FM radio, and Bluetooth. If it is placed in different locations, SOLPA can help networking between the booths. The device is easy to assemble and light enough to carry since it only weighs 15kg. Mr. Lee COO has personally and installed SOLPA in other countries such as Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. |
