Food Risk App for Improved Resilience

Our Solution

My Flood Risk app informs citizens in a comprehensive way on flooding an potential consequences to become more resilient to flooding. The first version has been launched in the Netherlands and informs citizens on potential consequences in case of flooding. Recently, the app has been launched in Accra as The my Flood Risk Accra app.

My Flood Risk App Accra has several features:

· It informs citizens on the local potential consequences in case of flooding.

· It provides information in the form of infographics how to become more resilient to flooding using prevention, preparedness, emergency response and recovery action. and

· It uses official forecasts to provide warning to citizens in case of high rainfall.

The app has been developed through community participation primarily involving the GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit), GMet (Accra Metrological Service), and three local municipalities. This Accra app is made in the scope of the project “The Strategic Alliance - Developing Risk Management Approaches for Climate and Health Risk (SAGABI Project) in Ghana” by the GIZ and Allianz. One of the project’s priorities is to build capacity and increase climate resilience through the ICRM approach. The app is available in the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android).
