About Us

With rapid urbanization and the haphazard use of local resources, it is essential to move to the sustainable management of water and sanitation services through integrated approaches incorporating various urban issues. As predicted, half of the world’s population will be living in the water-stressed areas by 2050. In order to reduce water stress in future, it is crucial to conserve resources and manage them sustainably.

ENPHO, in partnership with Bremen Overseas Research and Development Association (BORDA) and in close collaboration with Godawari and Kirtipur Municipalities, implemented the “Integrated Urban Water Management at the Center of Municipal Public Services” project in Godawari and Kirtipur municipalities in Nepal from January to December 2020.

Our Solution

One of the project’s major objective was to help the municipalities improve people’s lives. It achieved this through easy and safe access to their natural water resources by conserving, renovating and rejuvenating the sources. This project also focused on water infrastructure optimization.

Under the project, ENPHO in coordination with local stakeholders of the municipalities identified, renovated and rejuvenated five traditional stone spouts and conserved four water sources. The water sources were also renovated and focused on disaster resilient structure, catchment area protection, and safe water delivery system. The renovated traditional stone spouts are Pooring Gaa Hiti, Pako Hiti and Sheraphata Hiti in Godawari Municipality and Bharkhe Hiti and Aajudega Kuwa in Kirtipur Municipality. The conserved water sources are Basuki Source, Bishankhunarayan Source, Ghattekhola Source, and Champi Source.

This action therefore, promotes to conserve, renovate, and rejuvenate water sources by decreasing water stress among urban population and improving water quality from the water source. This is an exemplary effort to support the goal of SDG 6 to provide access to safe water to 90% by 2030.
