REGIONAL COOPERATION AND INTEGRATION IN ASIA AND THE PACIFIC: RESPONDING TO GLOBAL TRENDS, THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, AND “BUILDING BACK BETTER”

Introduction and objective. The launch event by the five participating multilateral development banks (MDBs) of the captioned Joint-MDB Report (Report) aims to inform the wider RCI community and related stakeholders of the main findings of the Report, and encourage wider, deeper, and more open RCI to address COVID-19 and its impacts throughout the Region.

Themes & Key Messages. The event is expected to be a ceremonial launch, with each of the MDB representatives giving a statement on their key RCI messages, and a promotional animation for wider dissemination after the launch. The statements may cover the following themes discussed in the Report:
i. Overcoming COVID-19 and building the Recovery is a collective challenge and opportunity.
ii. Regional cooperation is working and achieving tangible benefits addressing COVID-19.
iii. Regional cooperation has to be expanded, innovated, and intensified to achieve a sustainable, inclusive post-COVID-19 recovery.
iv. MDBs are close, effective partners supporting inter-country cooperation across the Region.
