Serendipity Knowledge Program is an ADB platform dedicated to identifying knowledge solutions for Sri Lanka’s development challenges. Serendib is one of Sri Lanka’s ancient names and serendipity refers to a fortunate finding, which is a common occurrence throughout the history of product invention and scientific discovery. ADB established this new knowledge programin 2021 in line with its vision as a knowledge bank.
Emerging from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, Sri Lanka focuses on bringing prosperity to rural communities by building on the country’s many achievements and experiences and drawing lesson from international best practices. Supporting sustainable rural development through integrated approaches will be an essential ingredient in the post-COVID-19 recovery and development process. The knowledge event on Integrated Rural Development for Prosperity aims to initiate a discussion among stakeholders on the approaches to rural development in the country. The discussions will focus on key development challenges faced in rural development and solutions from the experiences of Sri Lanka and other countries.
