WELCOME TO THE
IAMNET ANNUAL MEETING 2024

About IAMnet

Since the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, International Financial Institutions (IFIs) have incorporated Independent Accountability Mechanisms (IAMs) into their governance structures. These IAMs address concerns raised by communities and civil society regarding projects financed by the IFIs.

The Independent Accountability Mechanisms Network (IAMnet) was established to support these IAMs. It fosters collaboration, cooperation, and knowledge sharing among them. IAMnet is a network of dedicated practitioners who work to improve accountability and compliance within these institutions, ultimately leading to better corporate governance and development impact. Our membership includes 23 mechanisms linked to development finance institutions around the world. To facilitate coordination and follow-up on agreements, an informal Secretariat function was established in 2016, currently hosted by the World Bank Accountability Mechanism.

21st Annual Meeting, ADB Headquarters, Manila, Philippines

In addition to continuous information exchange, joint outreach events, and occasional collaboration on dispute resolution and complaint investigations, the Independent Accountability Mechanisms convene annually to exchange best practices, discuss challenges, emerging accountability trends, and share lessons learned. The 21st edition of the IAMnet Annual Meeting will be co-hosted by the Asian Development Bank's Accountability Mechanism and the Independent Redress Mechanism of the Green Climate Fund. The meeting will be held at the Asian Development Bank Headquarters in Manila, Philippines. It will include a separate session for representatives from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).
