ABOUT THE EVENT

Serendipity Knowledge Program is an ADB platform dedicated to identifying knowledge solutions for Sri Lanka’s development challenges. Serendib is one of Sri Lanka’s ancient names and serendipity refers to a fortunate finding, which is a common occurrence throughout the history of product invention and scientific discovery. ADB established this new knowledge program in 2021 in line with its vision as a knowledge bank.

Sri Lanka is at the cusp of becoming an upper middle-income country (UMIC). Private investments in key sectors will be an important ingredient in facilitating economic advancement and establishing the country as a UMIC. Public- Private Partnerships (PPPs) can bring private sector capital and efficiency to development projects identified and supported by the state. Recognizing the vital role of PPPs for Sri Lanka in the current phase of development, ADB is facilitating this knowledge event to introduce emerging highlights from ADB’s Sri Lanka PPP Monitor and initiate a discussion among stakeholders on improving the enabling environment for PPPs in the country.
