ADB-financed iRoad project in Sri Lanka upgraded and improved rural roads. By using satellite analyses, this study identifies the impacts of the project on economic welfare along the project roads. In particular, the analysis measures the expansion of building areas along the project roads, treating it as an economic indicator, over a four-year period of 2016-2021. The findings are verified by the household survey of over 1,000 households in the target areas.
