End-line Evaluation of a Feeder Separation Project in Madhya Pradesh, India
Author/s: Takashi Yamano, Francesco Tornieri, Deepa Ahluwalia
In Madhya Pradesh, India, ADB implemented an electricity feeder separation project, separating loads for agricultural and residential use, between 2011 and 2019. The feeder separation project not only improved the quality of power supply but also improved access to electricity for many households in the target areas. In 2016, a baseline survey was conducted on 1,085 households across 100 villages and found 282 households without access to electricity. To assess the changes in electricity quality and access, an endline survey was conducted in August 2021. By using the panel data, this study examines the impacts of the gained access and improved quality of electricity on household welfare indicators, especially on women and children.
