5th Asia and the Pacific Youth Symposium | 27–30 May 2025 

Welcome! You are about to apply for the 5th Asia and the Pacific Youth Symposium (APYS), which will be held on 27 to 30 May 2025 at the Asian Development Bank Headquarters (ADB), Manila, Philippines. The APYS5 is a social dialogue exchange that convenes governments, civil society organizations (CSOs), youth, and other key stakeholders in development to discuss major and emerging complex water-related issues in the region to develop youth-led policy, programming and financing recommendations. APYS5 is co-convened by ADB, Plan International, and the International Water Association (IWA) through the Philippine Young Water Professionals (PYWP). This event will run parallel to, and be integrated within, the ADB Asia Water and Urban Development Forum 2025 (AWUF2025), hosted by ADB’s Water and Urban Development Sector Office (SG-WUD).

APYS Participation

The APYS5 will be co-convened by ADB, Philippine Young Water Professionals (PYWP), and Plan International.  Co-conveners will offer: 

  1. Three virtual capacity-building sessions will be delivered to young people in 13-15 May as part of the lead-up to the APYS5 on May 27 and AWUF on May 28-30. These sessions will be available to young people attending APYS5/AWUF and to all interested young people who would like to strengthen their capacities to engage with development banks, become young water professionals, and develop green skills. 
  2. In-person deep dive and interactive sessions at ADB Headquarters on May 27 designed to build the knowledge and develop the ADB Action Agenda on Water and Youth.
  3. Youth-focused sessions and activities during the ADB Water and Urban Development Forum on May 28–30, including two main knowledge sessions, youth interactive sessions at the marketplace, and a Wizz Quiz side event.
