Timo Ong thinks about cities—and the spaces in between—through an architectural lens. As Associate Director of Bike Commute Malaysia and Commute Initiatives, he works to create great streets and public spaces for people of all ages and abilities.

In Kuala Lumpur, he consults, strategises, and designs inclusive street projects while advocating for equitable streets in public forums, children’s workshops, and schools. His work brings public and private partners together to deliver practical street transformations that advance shared safety goals.

Timo also directs YHRD Studio, an architectural studio that works on transforming neighborhoods to people first. His studio visualizes streets as a service to align stakeholders for safety. As a father and husband, he can’t wait to bike safely on streets in Kuala Lumpur with his family in the near future.
