Mirick Paala is a road safety consultant for the Asia-Pacific region in the World Bank. He has supported the institutionalization of road safety data management systems in the Philippines, Vietnam, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Myanmar, Lao PDR, Bangladesh, among others. He is also supporting the creation of the Asia-Pacific Road Safety Observatory, working closely with the Asian Development Bank. He has multiple years of experience in road safety data and has led capacity building activities for police and local government units in the Philippines. Under a Chevening scholarship from the United Kingdom, he graduated top of his class in the University of Leeds in the Institute for Transport Studies. His Master’s dissertation focused on investigating high-risk sites using surrogate safety measures. He also received a certification on traffic conflict techniques from the Lund University in Sweden. He is an advocate of sustainable and inclusive mobility. |
