Speaker's Bio

Gilbert Gatate




Gilbert is an accomplished Economist with over six years of experience in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), research, data management, and impact management. He is currently serving as an M&E Advisor at Cowater International (Technical Assistance Facility to LODA), a recipient of FCDO funding. 

Previously, he worked with the World Food Programme (WFP) as an M&E and Data Consultant and with TEARFUND Rwanda as a Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist. Gilbert's career also includes three years as an M&E Officer at the Rwanda Development Organization and roles at the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) as a Data Editor and Quality Controller. He holds a Master of Science in Economics. Throughout his career, Gilbert has gained extensive knowledge and skills in designing and monitoring programs, formulating logical frameworks, using survey programming tools, and building the capacities of project staff in M&E and data concepts. 

He has led data collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting exercises to inform various programs and has successfully led project baseline, mid-term, and end-line surveys. Gilbert is proficient in using digital/electronic survey programming tools such as ODK, KOBO Toolbox, ONA, Survey CTO, Survey Solution Designer, and Google-related apps. He is skilled in data analysis using advanced Excel, SPSS, and Stata, and in data visualization using Tableau Desktop. He is known for being a team player who enjoys working with diverse groups of people. He is flexible, knowledgeable, and dedicated to contributing to the development of others. Passionate about humanitarian work, particularly in eradicating hunger and malnutrition.
