Hiroki Kasahara is a Senior Financing Partnerships Specialist in the Partner Funds Division, SDCC of ADB. His work involves administration of the Japan Partner Funds.
Hiro has been in ADB for almost 11 years. His first stint in ADB was in 2005 as Regional Cooperation Specialist and Country Economist in SERD. He was in-charge of Greater Mekong Sub-Region Program and was the country anchor for Indonesia, Viet Nam, and Malaysia until 2008. In 2011, he returned to ADB HQ where he served for 5 years in OCO. As Senior Financing Partnerships Specialist, he was primarily responsible for the administration of the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction (JFPR), the ADB-Japan Scholarship Program, and other Japan trust funds. He was likewise involved in coordinating cofinancing lending projects with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC). He was later on assigned in MYRM in 2016 where he helped manage ADB’s coordination with various development partners while supervising the MYRM’s Yangon office.
Prior to joining ADB, Hiro served the Ministry of Finance (MoF) Japan for more than 15 years at various capacities in the area of International Finance. He was the Deputy Director for the ASEAN Cooperation Division and for the Japanese Bilateral Development Policy Division. He also assumed international assignments with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as Advisor to the Ministry of Finance of Viet Nam and as Administrator at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics.
