Born in Semarang, June 20, 1973, completed a Bachelor's degree in International Relations from UNPAD (1991-1996) and a Bachelor's degree in Urban & Regional Planning from ITB (1993-1998). He continued his Masters in Economics at UI (2001-2003) and International Business Ajou University, South Korea (2004-2006 KOICA scholarship), and continued his Doctoral, UI Economics (2009-2013 GFMRAP World Bank scholarship). 

He attended education and training, including Gol Pre-service Education and Training. III LAN Jakarta (1999), Customs & Excise Education and Training and SAMAPTA (1999), Tk. IV PPSDM Magelang (2008), Jabfung Research and Training Tk. I (Gel. IX) Pusbindiklat LIPI Cibinong (2013), and Tk. III PPSDM Magelang (2018). He also attended training abroad, including ILEA Bangkok (2001), Ministry of Finance Training Institute, Taiwan (2002), Customs and Tariff Bureau, Japan (2002), WBI & Columbia University, USA (2007), Johns Hopkins University, USA (2011 & 2019), WHO internship Geneva, Switzerland (2011), and visiting research University of Illinois Chicago, USA (2013). 

He has participated in several international meetings, including being Chairman in The 6th Meeting of the WG on the ASEAN Forum on Taxation (2016), Chair of the Indonesian delegation in The 9th Meeting of the WG on the ASEAN Forum on Taxation (2017) and the 11th ASEAN Forum. on Taxation and Sub-Forum on Excise Tax (2019), World Bank/IMF Meeting (2018 & 2019), various ASEAN FTA negotiation meetings (2007-2009), establishment of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (2014), etc. 

He has carried out various mandates, namely as Head of Hoarding Area, KPBC Palembang, Directorate General of Customs & Excise (2004), Plt. Head of Customs & Excise Analysis, Center for State Revenue Policy, Fiscal Policy Agency (2007-2009), Head of Evaluation and Relations for Foreign Representatives, Center for Regional and Bilateral Policy, Fiscal Policy Agency (2013-2015) and Head of Customs and Excise Policy , Center for State Revenue Policy, Fiscal Policy Agency (2015-2020). Currently, Nasruddin Djoko Surjono is serving as the Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Development Planning Agency since January 2020. 

For his dedication, the President of the Republic of Indonesia awarded him the Satyalencana Karya Satya X (2015) and the Satyalencana Karya Satya XX (2019).
