MSMEs in Developing Asia during COVID-19 Pandemic: Preliminary Findings from Survey Data

In May 2020, we began collecting data of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in eight developing countries in Asia through waves of online and telephone survey in collaboration with the Asian Productivity Organization and a national productivity organization in each country.  We are continuing the survey to construct panel data.  This paper reports preliminary findings from the data already collected about MSMEs' survival, changes in business environments, sales revenues and employment, and their response measures since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, and their assessments of government policies as well as own survival and growth expectations.
